Impact of e-waste on the environment

According to the UN, e-waste only represents 2% of the world's solid waste, but it can account for up to 70% of the hazardous waste that ends up in landfills.

Every year, 50 million tons are produced worldwide, of which on average only 20% is properly recycled and 80% ends up being buried.

European countries have the highest recycling rates, reaching 35%.

In Uruguay, the amount of electronic waste is around 40,000 tons per year.
